1st Annual Disability Resource Networking Event, sponsored by U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration, will take place on September 29, 2011 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. in Washington, DC.
The event will provide networking opportunities for federal hiring officials in Richmond, and across the nation, to meet with local and national organizations that work with individuals with disabilities, including Veterans with disabilities, to help them find employment. This eventwill also help federal agencies meet the requirements of Executive Order 13548.

100,000 workers with disabilities are to be hired into the Federal government.
In issuing Executive Order 13548 – Increasing Federal Employment of Individuals with Disabilities, President Barack Obama stated that “…Executive departments and agencies…must improve their efforts to employ workers with disabilities through increased recruitment, hiring, and retention of these individuals.” This section of Disability.gov offers information to help federal government departments and agencies understand their obligations under Executive Order 13548. It also provides information about strategies for recruiting, hiring and accommodating individuals with disabilities. These strategies and resources can help both public and private sector employers as they seek to take advantage of this frequently untapped pool of talented, skilled workers.
This event is held in support of the 2011 theme for the National Disability Employment Awareness Month, “Profit by Investing in Workers with Disabilities” and to assist federal agencies with meeting their goals under Executive Order 13548, “Increasing Federal Employment of Individuals with Disabilities”.
