Everyone knows their names, Amigo Mexican Restaurant, J. Alexander’s, Chef Lin Buffet and Cracker Barrel, but what do they have in common? They are the winners of Chattanooga Times Free Press’ 2011 Best of the Best in their perspective categories. This past summer over 20,000 Chattanooga residents voted for their favorite businesses. The categories ranged from Best Television Personality to Best Funeral Homes, with restaurants having 40 separate categories for residents to vote on. Basically, this was the 2011 People Choice Awards for Chattanooga businesses. The winners have been announced, and the trophies taken home, so here is an overview of some of the top restaurant winners.
J. Alexander’s is located at 2215 Hamilton Place Boulevard. J. Alexander’s placed first in the “All Around Restaurant” and “Business Lunch” categories. Known for wood-fired cuisine, J. Alexander’s provides exquisite food and a warm, elegant ambiance.
Chef Lin Buffet, 5084 South Terrace, placed first in the “Dinner Under $10”, “Buffet” and “Chinese” categories. Chef Lin Buffet offers a full service buffet with shrimp, oysters, sushi, hibachi, steak and other traditional Chinese dishes.
Amigo Mexican Restaurant-With 5 locations, it is easy to find an Amigo’s. Add the first place awards in “Meal for the Money” and “Mexican Restaurant” category, and you have a must-eat-at restaurant. Amigo’s has a wide variety of authentic Mexican cuisine served in a personable and hospitable environment.
Cracker Barrel is one of the few “national” chain restaurants to make Chattanooga’s Best of the Best list. Since Cracker Barrel serves up a diverse and great-tasting menu, it is easy to see how this restaurant made the cut in four separate categories. Cracker Barrel placed first in “Breakfast” and “Country Cooking”. They placed second in “Meal for the Money” and “Dinner Under $10”.
