The 2011 Big Ten football season kicks off conference play this weekend. For the Michigan Wolverines and their fan base, this time of the year has been the downfall of the past two seasons.
First year Michigan coach Brady Hoke has done just what Rich Rodriguez did the last two seasons. He has led them to an undefeated September. The key is can Hoke do what Rich Rod couldn’t – win some conference games!
Getting off to a good start should be a formality for the Wolverines this year.
The #19 ranked U of M Wolverines come into this game as a hefty 20-point favorite to beat the 1-3 Gophers. Minnesota is not playing well so far this season. They are allowing an average of 104.8 yards rushing, and 278.5 yards per game through the air. With those numbers Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson should have another big game.
Bottom line – Michigan knows they are haunted by their recent poor play in the Big Ten the past few seasons and should be determined to get off to a great start. Minnesota should be just what Michigan needs to get off on the right foot in the Big Ten with a win.
