Lindsay Schneider began doing makeup when she was in high school for her friends, showing off her skills as the ultimate homecoming and prom makeup artist. She realized she had a passion for beauty and began working in a Cherry Creek salon with a mentor who gave her important tips and tricks of the trade. She became a freelance makeup artist for MAC Cosmetics and became a full time makeup artist with MAC in Cherry Creek. After five years with MAC, she started her own business, Makeup Madame.
Schneider has kept Makeup Madame alive for four years so far, and has an impressive portfolio, as well as a very tight schedule to keep her busy. Recently, Schneider was awarded the “Best Makeup Artist” by Channel 7’s A-List Awards. She was also recently contacted by a New York PR firm, requesting her expertise for TV segments on how to apply makeup and to showcase different products.
“This is such a huge accomplishment for me and my business,” said Schneider. “I’m very excited to start this new project.”
Her talents have been seen anywhere from TLC, the Discovery Channel and Playboy, to local outlets like 303 Magazine, and many more. Although she’s done work for huge publications, she specializes in glamour makeup for bridal, TV and movies, runway, and print.
“[Glamour makeup] is universal and all females can relate to it. It was my decision years ago to specialize in a particular theme. Not only do I love glamour makeup, but it’s also the most demanded type of makeup people inquire about,” said Schneider.
Utilizing the services of a professional artist is a good idea because it’s much easier than doing it on your own, the products are long-lasting, and they are high-definition products so your makeup looks great in photos and stays on all day.
“I listen to each and every client’s wants and needs. I feel a lot of artists don’t have the right communication skills, experience, confidence and tools to do a customized application for each client,” said Schneider, who cares about every client she works with. “I love making people feel beautiful. The reaction I get when I show clients the mirror after an application is priceless.”
Schneider expects warmer and darker colors to be popular for fall in both clothing and makeup. Makeup should make a statement, but shouldn’t be overly dark and dramatic. Deep hues like navy and purple are sophisticated and rich for autumn.
“Denver is definitely growing and getting on the map. Denver even has ‘fashion week’ now. I feel with the population growing and the accessibility of the Internet, there is a whole new stir to fashion. It is so easy to get online and purchase all the amazing fashion and makeup they’re wearing in Los Angeles, New York and even Europe,” said Schneider.
Schneider said she loves using MAC products on her clients, as well as Urban Decay, Makeup Forever, NARS, Too Faced, and NYX.
