A warm and very humid air mass will be in place across the region today as a slow moving cold front begins to move south into this afternoon. The chance of showers and thunderstorms will increase, especially north and west of Albany, and very slowly progress toward Albany by late in the day. The Storm Prediction Center has placed the entire region in a “Slight Risk” for severe thunderstorms today. The front will then slowly move through the region into Labor Day and the beginning of the workweek as it interacts with tropical moisture from Tropical Storm Lee and brings more rainfall with flash flooding possible.
- A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for the Adirondacks, the Lake George-Saratoga region, and all of Vermont from 2 PM this afternoon through Tuesday morning. A slow moving cold front interacting with tropical moisture across the region will cause flash flooding problems, especially in areas that were washed out and damaged by Hurricane Irene.
