ABC airs the last broadcst run of the iconic soap opera “All My Children” on Friday after more 41 years on the air. The episode ended with cliffhanger that marveled some of televisions biggest finales, particuarly the “Who Shot J.R.” episode of “Dallas” and the is something going to happen feelings of “The Sopranos” finale. In the last episode of that popular series, the main characters are sitting at a diner when a man walks in. Tony looks at him and he and the man exchange glances and then the screen cuts to black. While “Dallas” has “Who Shot J.R.,” “All My Children” has “Who Did JR Shoot?”

Recapping the episode, Marion and Stuart reunite as Scott looks on. They learn that Stuart is all well and can be released from from the hospital.
Adam arranges for David to be released on bail as a thank you to David for saving Stuart. Jesse insists that David doesn’t get a pass for all he’s done, but he admits that him saving the lives of Stuart, Zach and Dixie and for restoring Angie’s sight was a great thing. He thanks him for all he’s done for Pine Valley.
Brooke tells Adam she bought the house so that Adam wouldn’t lose the mansion. Colby and Scott come in and tell them that The Chandlers should throw a party to celebrate Stuart being alive. They decide to invite the whole town.
Opal tells Erica that Jack is going to leave her, she saw him packing his bags. Erica insists that everything is fine, Jack is just upset but Opal says there’s more to it. Kit comes to Erica, reminding her that the jet is waiting to take her to California. Opal tells Erica that Stuart was alive and that Adam and Brooke were having a party to celebrate. Opal says that Jack will be at the party and Erica can talk to him there. Erica tells Kit that she has to see Jack and she can’t leave right away.
Jamie runs into JR at the airport and tries to talk to him about the trouble he’s having. JR gets defensive and says that everyone is out to get him, including Jamie. Jamie says that he’s trying to help him and its not too late for him. JR says he’s leaving town but he’ll be back. He can’t have his son raised by lesbians and tells Jamie to go away.
Tad and Dixie rush to the airport to tell JR the good news, his Uncle Stuart is alive. JR doesn’t believe them and tells them to leave him alone. JR decides not to leave town afterall and plans to head back to the mansion.
As friends and family gather for the momentous and joyous occasion, Ryan, Greenlee, Zach and Kendall see Angie and Jesse. Angie tells them the good news that she can see.
Randi tells Frankie, Jesse and Angie that she might be pregnant, and Brot and Natalia tell the party goers of their engagement.
Griffin and Zach seem to make amends as Kendall says that she’s just happy that David is in jail.
David arrives at the mansion looking for Adam, not knowing that a party was going on. He and Adam go to a private place to talk. Adam asks how can he thank him for Stuart. David says money’s good. Adam chuckles and gives him cash. Dixie comes in and asks David who the other patient is that he’s trying to save. David refuses to tell her, saying she doesn’t want to know.
Erica pulls Jack aside at the party and says that he should go to California with her. Jack is upset that she wants to postpone their wedding again and Erica admits that she doesn’t want to get married. Jack tells her that he’s been waiting for her for too long and he can’t do it anymore, she’ll have to live her life without him.
Adam and Dixie talk about where they went wrong in raising JR as he listens from the tunnels. They say that its better for everybody that JR is gone. As JR listens to his parents talking, he thinks about losing his business and losing custody of his son. He drinks while holding a gun and heads back through the tunnels to watche the party goers.
Back at the hospital, Stuart prepares to leave. Marion tells him that there is a great big party waiting for him. Stuart is excited and says that he couldn’t wait to see everyone again.
Bianca and Marissa arrive at the party and tell Scott that they got his text to come over. They want to know what is so urgent. Scott tells the couple that he didn’t send a text to them. JR looks on from the tunnels with his gun and a bottle of liquor, pleased that Marissa and Bianca fell for his trick.
Later, Adam asks Brooke to marry him and she accepts to marry him in front of the party goers. As they congratulate the happy couple, Jack runs through the living room about to leave as Erica tells him not to. Jack tells Erica that he doesn’t give a damn what she wants. As the stunned crowd watches, Erica ensure Opal that she’ll get Jack back. As she does, an armed JR looks through the tunnels at the crowd and fires his gun.
What happens next from there? Fans will have to turn in to the reboot version of “All My Children” in January to find out. Production company, Prospeck Park, saved the soap from cancellation along with “One Life To Live” and will pick up both soaps in January.
Until new episodes are aired, viewers will send the next few months wondering if Erica will win back Jack, and even more importantly, who did JR shoot?
