Alviso Marina County Park doesn’t have a physical address but that doesn’t mean that it’s hard to find. Located in Alviso, CA at 18.9 acres, it is part of the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge. For those who don’t know where Alviso, CA is, it is about a 15 minute drive away from San Jose. It is also right in between Milpitas and Santa Clara. Just exit Great America Parkway on freeway 237 and you’re there. What’s great about this park is that it’s quiet and not many people come here since they don’t know about it. The parking lot is huge but always seemingly empty.
Many people come here to hike, bike, and bird watch. Others who want to take their boat out here and fish may do so as there is a launch ramp. There are specific hours when the launch ramp is open, but for those who want to use it after hours must apply with an application form with a fee of $50 annually.
It may kind of smell here, but then again, it’s a salt marsh and it’s where the San Francisco Bay drains in.
