Word Game Pro is named Word Run Pro in the Android Market, and is priced at $2.89. It is normally priced at $2.89 in the Amazon Appstore. As we noted previously, prices sometimes differ between the two stores.
Word Game Pro is described as follows:
Word Game Pro adds some strategic spice to the familiar word game puzzle. The game centers on a mad scramble to construct words from a row of seven random letters, which change each round. Word Game Pro adds to the challenge by also letting you see letters that are about to come into play, offering you the chance to plan ahead–to develop a strategy.
Strategic Word Play
With Word Game Pro on your Android device, you will be treated to a unique word-finding experience that combines the creative thinking required for most word games with a strategic twist that involves looking ahead at the next eight available letters. As those letters are revealed, you have to balance careful observation with strategic thinking to build up combos and fill in words as fast as you can. Watch the bar at the top of the screen fill up a little each time that you successfully submit a word. Rack your brain to find the longest word possible for the most points before time runs out.
Find Words, Find Fun
Once the game starts up, you will notice that you are presented with the standard mix of seven letters. The points range from one to ten and you’ll start to gain additional points as you earn combos. Each successful word you create gives you another bonus combo point. The points keep piling up until you submit an incorrect word. Then, unfortunately, your combo bonus vanishes. With each fresh set of letters, you have new word prospects and the game automatically calculates how many words you can find with the maximum letters.
US and UK Spellings
Ensure that your observation skills are rewarded with points and not hindered by a limited dictionary with Word Game Pro. This game utilizes US and UK spellings using the SOWPODS Scrabble word list commonly used around the world for over 100,000 recognizable words ranging from three to seven letters. Check out your word history to see how many words you made (categorized by length) and what word gave you your best score. Upload your high score to see where you stand in the Word Game Pro world or keep track locally.
Word Run Pro has a 4.5-star rating in the Android Market, and as Word Game Pro, a 4.0-star rating in the Amazon Appstore.
However, Word Run Pro only has 4 ratings in the Market. Taking a closer look at the free version, with 51 ratings, we see a 4.2 rating, so that’s pretty consistent. There are 16 reviews in the Amazon Appstore.
For those wondering, although the games and developers are named differently between the two markets, the descriptions are close enough, AND the fact that the Android Market description mentions a website with the domain of the developer name in the Appstore caps if all off for us: they are the same game.
Those who are considering “buying” a Free Amazon Appstore app might want to consider what it means to developers.
Amazon.com opened up the Appstore despite a lawsuit by Apple, which has previously trademarked the term “App Store.” Microsoft has filed an appeal against that trademark, saying the term is too generic. Amazon.com has responded to the lawsuit in the same manner.
