This summer Atlanta day parties were all the rage. Whether you were enjoying a Sunset Lounge at Shout, or having an Easy Sunday at Loca Luna—the schematics were pretty much the same. The Day Party is all about taking the pressure off entertainment. It’s a way for people to enjoy a nightlife vibe, with a more casual feel.
The average day party in Atlanta begins somewhere around noon or 1pm, early enough for the early risers to peel themselves out of bed and grab a leisurely meal. Food and drink specials at these events are par for the course. Atlanta’s unpredictable weather dictates that a few more of these daytime events are to be had—before the chilliness of fall besets. So, if you’ve decided to get one in before it’s too late, here are some simple, albeit handy tips to heed.
Get dressed in good lighting.
Be aware that partying in the daytime assures people that even with “beer goggles” they’ll be clear on what a person really looks like. To that effect, ladies—make sure your make-up is blended and your “unmentionables” are well contained. Basically, any flaws that you would consider hiding under the seductive lighting of the nightclub should be addressed appropriately. Daylight is a beautiful yet unforgiving thing.
Get there early.
Arrive at the party early. No, really. The flyer even says so. Once upon a time, it was cute to arrive fashionably late. But where these day parties are concerned, you’ll really want to heed the advice. Especially if you plan to coat your tummy to soak up those drink specials. Loca Luna has a pretty expansive space to serve its hungry patrons. But the day parties attract a whole section of the population that has no intention of eating. The earlier you arrive, the easier you’ll be seated and served. And you won’t have to worry about having someone’s rear end hovering over your chicken skewers.
Wear comfy shoes.
Those trendy 4-inchers had better be platforms with padded soles. Otherwise, you won’t make it through the party. But if you made the fortunate decision to arrive early (to get a good table), then take your time with the tapas. Depending upon the day of the week, these parties have a tendency to spill over into the late night hour. Give your tootsies some much-needed consideration.
Get your Facebook status together.
You’ve seen the pictures. Dozens of gorgeous and exotic looking folks cheesing for the event’s website gallery. You may have declined the offer to have your picture taken. But trust that you’re probably in the background somewhere looking equally festive with your fruity cocktail. So, if you’ve brushed off plans with a buddy, loaded a “fake Facebook status” and headed over to Shout—-know that you’ve been warned.
