City Hall East opens as Ponce City Market with a Party at Ponce featuring Indigo Girls, Francine Reed and Shawn Mullins, Saturday, October 1 from 7 to 11 p.m. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Atlanta Beltline Partnership and Georgia Organics.
Atlanta chefs Hugh Acheson, Ford Fry, Duane Nutter, Brian Jones, Kevin Rathbun, Anne Quatrano, Shaun Doty and Jay Swift, along with some of Atlanta’s food trucks will be on hand, providing food. Tickets include a tour of Ponce City Market. Tickets are $90 and are available at empiretickets.com.

Chef Art Smith has announced his culinary team for Southern Art, set to open Wednesday, October 12.Executive chef Anthony Gray, recently of High Cotton in Charleston, will helm the kitchen of the Southern-inspired restaurant, accompanied by pastry chef Meredith Miller, head mixologist and bar manager Brian Stangerand general manager Alain Zemmour.
Pastry chef Miller draws on her family’s Southern roots, but comes to Atlanta from the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort in Laguna Beach, California. Head Mixologist Stanger comes to Southern Art from Abbatoir, during which he was named Creative Loafing’s Mixologist of the Year 2010. GM Zemmour, a native of France, most recently worked for 10 Degrees South.

Abattoir will open its kitchens to North Carolina chef Steven Devereaux Greene on Sunday, October 9. Greene chefs for Herons at the Umstead Hotel and Spa in Cary, N.C, and is noted for his creative ways with local ingredients.
Abattoir’s executive chef Josh Hopkins and Greene met when both were chefs in Charleston, S.C. Their special six-course dinner will use ingredients from Georgia and North Carolina. The event begins with a reception at 6:30 p.m. followed by the meal at 7 p.m.
