The Drunken Intellectual presents his Best of Baltimore Beer Week, featuring his favorites from each day of the extravaganza. Today, we examine Monday, October 10th.
As the Drunken Intellectual, it is my job to drop some knowledge about the drinking scene in Baltimore on all (both of) my readers. However, sometimes it is good to sit back and learn from the professionals. See, Baltimore Beer Week isn’t just about drinking as many good brews as possible in a condensed amount of time (although that certainly is a possible side-effect). There is also the opportunity to educate yourself along the way. (THE HORROR!) So in the spirit of learnin’, you will find me at Bertha’s in Fells Point on Monday, October 10th for the Baltimore Beer Forum.
Now, obviously, I already know almost everything there is to know about beer. But I also know that there are a handful of exceptional people out there who might have a thing or two on me when it comes to the fruit of the barley. And this forum definitely has a few of those fine folks on board, including Steve Jones from Oliver’s, Mike McDonald from White Marsh Brewing (totally not the guy from the Doobie Brothers), Volker Stewart from The Brewer’s Art, and Hugh Sisson from Heavy Seas. Talk about an all-star lineup of Baltimore brewers!
So if you’ve ever wondered about beer beyond the typical, “How much does it cost?”, or my personal favorite, “Is this a beer or an ale?”, then perhaps you should join me. Be ready to ask questions (no, not those) and hear some great stories. Because, as they say… knowledge is power. They also say, “Knowing is half the battle.” And “Wonder Twin powers… activate!” But I’m really not sure how that relates here…
Anyway, bring your thinkin’ caps and your drinkin’ shoes, boys and girls! It’s gonna be a bumpy ride… (No it isn’t.)
