Many Bangor area residents have an interest in ghost hunting. A lot of people do not hunt for ghosts because they do not have the equipment that is seen on popular television shows. Advanced ghost hunters bring along a lot of supplies when they go on a hunt. Not all of the equipment that is brought is necessary for the enjoyment of the ghost hunt. Beginning ghost hunters can bring little equipment and still have the experience of a lifetime. The following is a list of equipment you may want to bring a long on your first ghost hunt.
Notebook and Pen
These are used for writing down the experience on paper. Include the location, time, date and anything you experience. Paper and pen are a great way to record every ghost hunting experience.
A compass is a helpful tool for two reasons. First, a compass can be used to prevent getting lost. Second, it is a useful tool for detecting changes in the electromagnetic field.
Flashlight and Batteries
Flashlights are good for helping one see where he is going. They can also be used to experience anomalous battery drain. Each person should have their own flashlight and extra batteries.
Cameras and Camcorders
It is good to bring both a digital camera and a 35 mm camera. When using a digital camera, megapixels are important. The resolution needs to be good because it makes it easier to zoom in on areas of the pictures. The night time setting is also helpful when using a digital camera at night.
The 35 mm camera can catch things that a digital camera can’t. When using this type of camera, black and white film should also be used. More paranormal things show up on the black and white pictures.
Make sure to have extra film and batteries for the 35 mm camera. A memory card that holds a lot of pictures or a couple of memory cards and extra batteries will also be helpful for the digital camera.
Digital, or regular, camcorders can be used on a ghost hunt. It is best if the camcorder used has a night vision setting. A tri-pod can be used to hold the camcorder in place, but isn’t necessary. An extra charged battery for both types of cameras would come in handy. Also, extra video tapes for a regular camcorder would be helpful.
Analog Tape Recorder
This is used to record Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP). Many times tape recorders pick up voices and sounds that humans can’t hear. Use new tapes and pack extras just in case. Extra batteries may come in handy for this too.
This is all of the equipment that is needed to enjoy a ghost hunt. Even though this list is small, not everything is needed for the hunt, but it is all useful. A person can go with a pen, paper and a camera and have just as much fun.
All of the equipment listed can be purchased for reasonable prices at that Bangor Super Wal-Mart. The electronics can also be purchased at the Bangor Best Buy store.
