In a move that’s sure to upset Battlefield 3 beta testers on the PC, DICE has shutdown the servers hosting the Caspian Border maps just one day after the beta was opened to everyone.
From the Battlelog, DICE developer Daniel Matros posted the following.
It´s been 3 days full of win!
Thank you everyone who participated in testing Caspian Border with us during the Open Beta. We of course cherish and appreciate the time you have put into supplying is with good feedback. We will of course read it through and discuss it internally.
Testing has now been completed and we are shutting down the Caspian Border servers.
Granted, getting in one of the servers hosting Caspian Border depended on hunting down a password and it was hit or miss getting in even then depending on how full the servers were. However, the map supported 64 players and all vehicles which made it a hot commodity compared to the Operation Metro map that features a Rush gametype with no vehicles.
The Battlefield 3 beta runs until October 10 so there’s a possibility we may see other map variants.
