A friend of my son was baking a few potatoes. They said one potato looked marvelous from the outside, but when it was cut in half, inside one end of the potato was green. Now that was absolutely crazy. Needless to say, a phone call was made home to momma, and they asked, is it okay to eat a potato that has green stuff in it? Do we throw the potato out and get another one, or just take the green stuff off and eat it? How many times have you seen something that was absolutely fabulous on the outside, just to find it was slightly rotten on the inside? Did you purchase a beautiful used car on the outside but forgot to get the facts report on it? Did you remember to get a complete diagnostic on it? If not, what were you thinking? At least you could have caught some potential, or permanent problems. What can you do to make sure your choice was right? There are never a sure cut way to get, buy, or date, the right one. Sometimes you have to take a chance and go with your gut, but why go with your gut when you can ask the Creator.
Now when it comes to a person that’s nice, good looking, or whatever, on the outside, but a mess on the inside, and if you know that’s who they are, then you better run like you’ve lost your mind. You don’t want to be stuck with a lemon, do you? You know you can’t check people out in the same way you checked out your fruit. I wish I can say it was that simple, but it’s not. We all look for something or someone that’s beautiful on the outside because we are a visual people, but they have no idea what’s really lurking on the inside. So, how’s your inside? Is it beautiful in and out? When was the last time you had a diagnostic check up for your inside? What did the report show? How much of that green stuff is inside of you? God knows how to reconstruct your inside so your outside will match. What good is it to be beautiful on the outside and nothing to show for it on the inside? If you know there’s some green stuff inside of you, please allow your God to shine a spotlight on this possible misdemeanor and get it out. I hope you understand that if you don’t allow God’s change to work in and through you to pull out the green stuff, you may find yourself in an unflattering position.
It’s time to be refined by the Potter’s Hand. Let Him put you on His spinning wheel and into the fire to burn off all those so called beauty marks. Remember, anything that’s rotten will sometimes produce maggots, and flies. So check this beautiful car, person, or whatever carefully, and don’t be moved on the first model that you come across.
