With past Bills teams, you’d worry about a Patriots hangover.
But the mental makeup of this 2011 Bills team makes it hard to believe that the Bengals will be anything more than a bump in the road along the way to a 4-0 record for Buffalo.
On the field, the Bengals offense is bad. Without running back Cedric Benson, they’re terrible. Kyle Williams, Marcell Dareus, Shawne Merriman and company are going to wreak havoc on rookie quarterback Andy Dalton, who has a lot of work to do before establishing himself….a LONG way to go. His numbers have been adequate, but he still makes a lot of rookie mistakes.
The offense may struggle a bit against a Bengals defense that has two very good cornerbacks in Nate Clements and Leon Hall. David Nelson and Scott Chandler could be in line for big games, with the defensive back corps in Cincy thinning out after the top two. Nelson should be able to exploit Morgan Trent, Cincinnati’s nickel back.
The Bengals offense, or lack thereof will be the reason the Bills pull away and finally pull of a comfortable win after two magnificent heart-stoppers.
