As a parent, your first concern is always to ensure the safety of your children, right? Yet, when you move, how do you know WHO is living in your area; who is between your home address and your child’s school? Does your child walk or do a combination of walk and public transportation or do they take the same route to and from every day? San Diego alone is home to over 4000 sex offenders in San Diego as of August 2011.

An excellent website that offers a listing of registered sex offenders is www.city-data.com. If you click on each city, you will be directed to another page that provides the ratio of citizens to offenders in that area as of August 2011. The ratios are alarming, to say the least. The website provides all cities throughout California in alphabetic order. Under San Diego, after the statistics table you will be given a list of offenders in your city and their ‘statistics’ which include their name, address, date of birth, eye and hair color, weight and height, race and the crime (i.e.- rape by force, etc.).
Another excellent website to search for offenders within San Diego is www.meganslaw.ca.gov. In San Diego County there are 1188 offenders. As an example of just how many sex offenders can be in one area, the zip code 92102 has 44 sex offenders with 80% of them concentrated from 25thstreet towards downtown San Diego.
National Sex Offender Registry covers all 50 states, including Puerto Rico, Guam and the District of Columbia.
