Kaley Cuoco, star of CBS sitcom “Big Bang Theory,” has been tapped to host the 2012 People’s Choice Awards, the network announced Thursday (October 27).
“Kaley is sexy, funny and smart — everything you want in a host [and] everything you get to see each week on ‘The Big Bang Theory,'” Jack Sussman, head of specials and live events for CBS said in a statement. “Can’t wait to see what she brings to the People’s Choice Awards 2012.”
This will be the 25-year-old actress’s second hosting gig after emceeing the Teen Choice Awards in August. Queen Latifah hosted the People’s Choice Awards for the past five years.
“We are thrilled to welcome Kaley as the new host of the People’s Choice Awards,” executive producer Mark Burnett said in a press release. “She’s been making people laugh on top-rated comedy series for the last decade…. I’m looking forward to working with her on a fun-filled, comedy-packed show in January.”
“Big Bang” is once again up for the People’s Choice Award for best comedy series at next year’s ceremony, which will air Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 9/8c on CBS.
Fans can still vote for this year’s nominees at peopleschoice.com in all 41 categories, including music, movies and TV. Voting for the winners will begin November 8.
The announcement comes on the heels of the news that Cuoco is engaged to boyfriend Josh “Lazie” Resnik, an addiction specialist and former bassist for punk band Danzig. The couple have yet to set a wedding date. Cuoco previously dated her “BBT” co-star Johnny Galecki for two years.
She’ll next be seen on the big screen in the indie film “The Last Ride,” and in the Lifetime TV movie “Untouchable: The Drew Peterson Story” alongside Rob Lowe.
“Big Bang Theory” continues Thursdays at 8/7c on CBS.
