The first gain of “Biggest Loser” season 12 was no shock to Blue trainer Anna Kournikova, Blue teammates or viewers watching Johnny Forger slack in the earlier part of the second week. Some may think age contributed to Blue landing in the elimination room for the second week in a row, but it really came down to Johnny’s constant excuses and lack of trying. After a two-pound gain, Johnny was eliminated, but since leaving the ranch, Johnny has lost 59 pounds and says he is now able to play with his grandkids without tiring.

The first temptation challenge of the season involved plates and plates of mini donuts and the opportunity to choose the teams’ workout times for the week. In groups of three (one person from each team) the contestants were brought into a room filled with donuts and asked to stand in front of a plate of mini donuts. Walls kept the contestants from seeing who ate and who didn’t, and there were several contestants who tried to convince the others they were scarfing down the doughy holes – although, no one was trying harder than Johnny, who was making noises so inappropriate and grotesque that host Alison Sweeney even had a hard time keeping it together. Most of the players didn’t touch a single donut, but Mike and John wanted control of the game and were willing to inhale the extra calories to get it. The winning team was Black, and the game was won solely because of the 37 donuts (worth 1,295 calories) John ate; you can imagine how annoyed Mike was for wasting 385 calories. The scary part of John’s win – the proof his bad habits haven’t been broken – was he didn’t realize how many donuts he’d eaten in the three-minute period. He was devastated despite the win, and the fear was obviously paying for it later.
With the first temptation challenge of the week came the first moments of tension between the teams. John gave his team the morning workout slot, gave Blue the afternoon time slot, and stuck Red with the late-night spot, which no one wanted because it was from 9 p.m. to midnight. John explained giving Blue what they wanted because he respected them. He said nothing about not respecting Red, but they took it that way, and the eye rolling and snipping comments were almost immediate.

Honestly, though, upsetting Red was the least of John’s worries this week, as he was causing plenty of uproar and upset among his own teammates. A team meeting was held, and all cards were laid on the table – cards that stemmed down to John calling Sunny stupid and John making deals with several Black players and Red. Trainer Bob Harper was a witness to the argument, and he urged the team to apologize and move on, or they would fall apart at the weigh in. John apologized to Sunny, claiming the game may have gone to his head, but something tells me this isn’t the last Black argument that will center on John.
The week’s physical challenge involved the teams trying to maneuver a ball from one spot to another in a large maze on a platform in the pool. It was a challenge that balance and teamwork, and it offered pound advantages. Black won the challenge, earning a two-pound advantage, while Red earned a one-pound advantage for finishing second. It took Black nearly twice the time of the other two teams to finish the challenge.
