In this week’s episode of The Biggest Loser, one contestant is sent home for the week with their trainer and we see the results of complaining to your trainer. Contestants are in week 5 of their journey and are missing their families at this point. The first challenge sends one player home for a week, with their trainer, in an effort to save the entire team by having only that person’s weight count for the weigh-in. Sunny on the Black Team wins that challenge and takes her trainer Bob home to Frisco, Texas for the week.
Sunny spends time with her family and then settles in for some hometown workouts from Bob, who is determined she is not going to come in last in this week’s weigh-in. Great insight from Sunny:
- “I took the easy route. I settled for less than the best. I want to be the best now.”
- “I’ve been sitting on the sidelines for the last 15 years, too embarrassed to go out with my husband because of my weight.”
Bob tells her to ‘step up to the challenge’ as he puts her through brutal workouts for the week. Sunny continues to make changes as she changes what used to be her daily stop at the local donut shop to Subway instead. She does not complain during the week. The workouts are hard, but she has the weight of her team on her back and she does what Bob tells her to do.
Back at the ranch though, the other teams and trainers deal with their complainers. Bonnie on the Blue Team continues her drama outbursts with trainer Anna as they truly embody the theme of this season ‘Battle of the ages’. 63-year old Bonnie does not like having the young Anna tell her what to do. They go back and forth on Bonnie’s lack of openness and her willingness to complain a little bit more than everyone else. Ouch.
On the Red Team, comic Vinny makes fun of his overreaching belly by mocking it with a voice and hand movements and naming it “Cecil”. This infuriates his trainer Dolvett who responds “People with cancer don’t name their tumors”. Double-ouch. Dolvett turns a serious face when the others around him laugh about it. “Health is a serious matter”, Dolvett pushes Vinny and gets him to realize he is hiding behind his laughing for too long.
Drama weigh-in as Sunny comes homes and redeems herself with her Black Team by losing 14 lbs in Texas. She is estatic. Red Team loses the weigh in and sends Courtney home. Courtney started at 270 lbs and has lost a total of 65 lbs so far. She continues her weight-loss journey at home as she inspires her sister to lose weight as well. Without complaining.
