Biggest Loser season 12, week 2 had doughnuts, disputes and ditties from Vinny, Bob, Train and even Boston Johnny.
So wait, is the new theme song from Train or Big Vinny? I think we heard more from Vinny’s impromptu Biggest Loser song than Train’s highly touted new theme song tonight (but don’t worry, we have the entire thing at left in the video section).
First temptation: Alison escorted one member from each team into a carnival of doughnuts. Alison informed them that the gym would only be open for three two-hour shifts a day. The team that ate the most doughnuts would decide when all the teams could workout. There was a lot of bad acting going on with people fake eating – especially Johnny, who got to perform twice. But there also was real eating going on. John from the black team pounded down 1,200 calories of mini doughnuts. (Was that remorse or heartburn on his face?)
So the black team gets the morning shift, the red team gets to workout at night and the blue team gets the afternoon (they’ll be missing Matlock!).
As the black team found out at 5 a.m., they get Bizarro Bob – singing, grinning, dancing and ultimately screaming.
After the workout, the black team had a little summit to address the fact that Doughnut John was talking smack about Sunny (“dumb as poo”?) and making deals with the red team to come up with a perceived “final four.” Then they all sang Kumbaya and all was forgiven.
Anna had her hands full with Johnny, who kept jumping off machines early and asking for time. Dolvett brought his team to the gym at 9 p.m. after a yogurt break (awwww, his first product placement!).
After the workouts, it was time to meet with Dr. Huizenga, who gave them the usual “look how sick you are” pep talks. Ramon got a shock with a diabetes diagnosis. “I can’t sugar-coat this!” Dr. H told Ramon. (Can he Splenda-coat it?) Ramon wins the prize for Sickest Player on the Ranch.
The challenge: Winning team gets a 2-pound advantage at the weigh-in and second place gets a 1-pound advantage. They need to move a ball around a maze; fastest completion wins. The dominating black team won again, while the youngsters came in second.
Last-chance workout: They still worked out separately, at their respective times. Even though they only had two hours a day in the gym, I’m sure there was other exercising done the rest of the day – like running away from those giant frogs that you could hear in the background every time Dolvett would talk at night. Anna was nervous that her team didn’t have any advantage, so she pushed her team hard.
Quote of the week, from Patrick: “Red team’s tired of losing. We’re tired of losing challenges, tired of losing weigh-in. It’s on like Donkey Kong.”
Weigh-in: Black and red teams have advantages and blue doesn’t. How’d they do?
Vinny: 5 pounds
John: 15 (He has lost 52 pounds in two episodes – let that sink in.)
Johnny: +2 (yikes.)
Elimination: Blue team found themselves in the elimination room again. Mike had immunity since he lost the most weight on his team. Johnny hopes he can stave elimination but c’mon, he gained two pounds! There were only three people to vote for and Johnny was the one to go home. But he left with a song in his heart:
America! The next time you see me, I’ll be thin,
And I will win the at-home prize,
So make sure you tune in.
The update: He has gone from 328 and now he’s down 59 pounds. Rolling around with his grandkids, jogging three miles, singing on the treadmill – that’s how you do it!
Next week: NFL week! Drew Brees! Tim Tebow! Tim Tebow! Tim Tebow! (Did I mention that I’m a UF grad?) And they’re not the only superstars – Jennifer looks like she has a stellar week, despite her injury.
