Yesterday marked the 10th Anniversary of the launch of one of software’s leading designs, Windows XP; which complete with a redesigned look and feel that centered on usability and a unified Help and Support services center, allowed Microsoft to sell over 1-billion copies to date. A decade later, Baltimore’s #1 black-owned and operated media outlet, and Maryland’s fastest growing political marketing firm launched its newly designed and innovative website – www.gcommmedia.us.
GCOMM Media Co., the firm founded by the regular columnist you find here on the knotmove.com each and every day, reporting on the news that most others are too timid or unconcerned about to report on; has seen its share of success over the past three years of its existence – and most of that has a lot to do with the hard work and perseverance of company President and CEO, Hassan Giordano. “I am humbled by the outpouring of love and continued work given to us by some of Baltimore’s elite politicians, and some of Maryland’s leading industrial giants,” said Giordano, who has been the backbone of the engine we see today. From his beginning days at the Examiner in 2008, to the 2009 launch of his own TV program entitled the ‘Reporters’ Roundtable’, Mr. Giordano has taken his political and media career to another level in the past few years.
“What we’ve seen by GCOMM over the past few years really is a testament to the will power and perseverance of Hassan, along with his uncanny ability to find talent amongst a small journalistic pool of writers and opening his firm up to a handful of experienced and talented staffers who make this firm one of the best in the business,” says frequent contributor and media colleague Doni Glover, owner of Bmorenews who is celebrating 9-years of continued success this week. Some of those contributors Mr. Glover speaks of were a big part of the renewed launch, such as Catalina Byrd, who was a regular contributor to the Examiner column known as the Byrd’s Nest, and is seen today as the Senior Associate for Marketing, Branding and Development. The young 30-year old charismatic journalist, who is the creator of the popular BlogTalkRadio show ‘On Point’, has long been the ying to Mr. Giordano’s yang – at least when it comes to political journalism.
“I am so excited about what this site, as well as future sites and projects being worked on now, is going to mean for Independent Media throughout this City and State, and am personally proud of all the hard work and dedication my big brother Hassan has put in, in order to get to this place in his career,” said Byrd, the daughter of one of Maryland’s most prominent politicos, Victor Clark. From the political communications of print (Examiner), radio (Speaking Right to the Issues on WOLB1010AM) and television (Reporters’ Roundtable w/Hassan Giordano), GCOMM Media has quickly become one of the state’s leading political and business video production firms with e-commercials designed for the web and social media, as well creating marketing commercials for the big screen and radio. From 2011 summer campaign commercials for people such as Councilwoman Sharon Green-Middleton and 12th district challenger Odette Ramos, to the work done for Mayoral candidate Joseph ‘Jody’ Landers, you can always rely on quality work, in a timely fashion and done so within your budgetary restraints.
“A lot of my competitors, friends and family never understood how I was making a profit when I was giving such great prices to my clients, as it relates to video productions, communications and political consulting, website design and social media building; however, as I told all of them, its not about how much money you can squeeze out of one particular client, rather how many clients can you continue to count on, on a consistent basis based on continued and trusted quality service,” said Mr. Giordano, the 35-year old small business owner. “My mother always taught me the common sense behind mathematics, and you can either go for the one-time only $1-million hit, or be patient and continue on with receiving $1,000-a-day for the rest of your life – which one would you choose?”
The newly designed site allows users to easily access the many features and services provided by GCOMM Media Co. as well as being able to operate the multi-media features such as viewing past TV shows, clicking on the Examiner logo to see the daily posts made here by the Baltimore Independent Examiner, as well as getting a better sense of what the firm represents and offers, to be able to see if the services needed by you or your company and/or organization, can be met by this small yet hard-working firm? “I hate having to go through multiple operators, waiting on hold for what seems like hours with some stupid elevator music being played, or even not being able to contact the proper people who are in charge of servicing my needs; therefore I made sure clients won’t have to suffer through those same pet-peeves that I can’t stand,” said Hassan. “I treat every customer as if they are the President of the United States, as important as our Commander-in-Chief and give them the same respect I would give my own mother, for you never know who it is your dealing with and what type of challenges and hardships they previously incurred before coming to you?”
And Mr. Giordano knows all about challenges and hardships! The former felon, who had a very rocky road during his teenage years, and even his early twenties; though very lucrative financially, the single father of a 5-year old son whose mother passed when he was three, turned his life around to become an advocate to those who’ve had past hardships, which only adds on to the perseverance and dedication he puts into his work ethic. “I’ve seen both sides of the fence so to speak, therefore I understand the negativity that comes with taking short cuts, thus it is one of the main reasons I just use all that same energy I previously used to get rich in the drug game, to be successful now through legal means, for not only me, but my son Malik as well,” said the passionate Park Heights native. “The difference is, what you get with this firm that you most certainly won’t get anywhere else, is that we love what we do, and live this process; as Cat and I, along with other members of this firm, eat, sleep, and poo-poo politics and journalism! I never went to school for either, yet once thrust into it as deep as I was, I took every advantage afforded to me in order to learn all I could in order for me to know more than the next man, not as much, but more; as I knew with one strike against me, I had to be better and therefore I learned everything I could about the political process, the Constitution (Federal and State) as well as the City Charter, along with every thing I could find about communications and marketing, which through that love and passion I believe most clients, viewers and listeners to our media programs keep tuning in because of that unique dedication and passion I have to what it is I do?”
Therefore, if communications and/or political consulting, lobbying, coalition building, media services and needs (Press Releases, Advisories, Speech writing, etc…), video production or photography, along with a long list of other services are what you need, then you have come to the right place when you hire GCOMM Media Co.
