A theatrical film has been announced for popular anime and manga series “Blue Exorcist,” according to manga magazine Shueisha’s Jump Square.
The anime series will be airing its season ending episode this Sunday.
The series, based on the manga by Kazue Kato, tells the story of Rin Okumura, a 15 year old boy raised by famous exorcist Father Fujimoto. He soon discovers that he is the son of Satan, and decides to defy his fate by joining True Cross Academy and become an exorcist himself in order to defeat his father.
There are no details yet on whether the film will be a continuation of the series or a retelling of the manga.
The show has been streaming on Crunchyroll, Hulu, Viz Anime, and Anime News Network all season as the show has aired, premiering their episodes on Wednesdays. The first volume of a subbed only DVD set is scheduled to be released next month by Viz Anime, and will be available at Best Buy, Barnes and Noble in Manchester, and FYE.
