5 Day Outlook: Friday the autumnal equinox occurs at 5:04 am (EDT). Although meteorological fall began three weeks ago, the autumnal equinox signals the official start of fall in the Northern Hemisphere…..Unlike last weekend, when it felt more like fall, the weather being ushered in now has more of a tropical feel to it. Not only are the temperatures warmer than last weekend, but the humidity is much higher giving the air a muggy, humid feel to it.
Stalled systems to our west and a plume of moisture riding up the east coast, spell lots of rain over the next few days. It appears the steady rainfall will occur from late Friday into early Saturday. As the rainfall shifts offshore Saturday afternoon, we should get a break in the action on Sunday into early Monday. A return to unsettled weather is expected later Monday through Tuesday as low pressure moves through southern New England. This pattern is dragging tropical moisture all the way from the Gulf of Mexico to New England. That’s why humid air is also a player in the forecast.
