Boston Metro north, covering the North Shore, Merrimack Valley and Northwest Suberbs:
5 Day Outlook: Yesterday we talked about two low pressure systems moving through New England…The first low brought us unsettled conditions yesterday, with scattered showers and even a few thunderstorms…The second low moves slowly through our area over the weekend and delivers another period of unsettled weather as showers and perhaps a thunderstorm or two linger into Sunday night. It won’t rain all the time, but expect the weekend to be generally cloudy with periods of showers.
Sandwiched between the lows we have a slot of dry air coming in on Friday which brings warm temperatures and lots of sunshine…Early next week a cold front should move through the area and sweep all the clouds and showers out to sea. High pressure follows behind the front and with it comes the delightful fall feel weather we mentioned earlier this week. Unfortunately it does not arrive until after the weekend, but after it arrives we are in for several days of really nice early fall weather.
High temperatures over this 5 day period will run above normal Friday, then slowly taper back to the 60’s by Sunday and into early next week…By Sunday night the lows will start dipping into the 40’s and low 50’s, throughout most of northeast Massachusetts.

A quick look at the tropics and we find that Ophelia has now become a category 3 hurricane. She is expected to move east of Bermuda over the weekend and then impact Newfoundland sometime early next week. She is no threat to the U.S.
