A. Students will discuss the stressors experienced in Monica’s life and Daphne’s life.

Discussion question #5: Monica Phillips was experiencing stress. What are the stressors in her life?

Students Respond:

* Monica felt uncomfortable after hearing the story about Bill’s cousin almost committing suicide due to excessive bullying.

* Monica was feeling nervous when she recalled that the ninth-grade girl from Ireland killed herself due to excessive bullying. Knowing that the girls who bullied her might be in major trouble made her realize she better be extra careful about what she said from now on.

* Monica felt stressed that she might get a demerit slip for being tardy.

* Monica felt even more stressed that she actually was late and did get a tardy slip.

* Monica tried to relieve some of her stress by saying some choice words in her head that she was smart enough not to say out loud in class.

Discussion question #6: Daphne Honey was experiencing stress. What are the stressors in her life?

Students Respond:

* Daphne was feeling very nervous when she locked eyes with Monica as they passed each other in the hallway.

* She sighed in relief when Monica did not bully her after all.

* She gasped when she saw that Monica was staring at her very intently as she entered her science class.

* She felt like crying because Monica had succeeded in making her feel bullied even though she did not say a word.

B. Students will discuss the Anger Cues experienced by Monica and Daphne.
