Florida – A story has surfaced that Casey Anthony, the Florida mother acquitted of the murder of her own child, is planning to elope with her wealthy “sugar daddy” and move to Mexico to live out her life in peace. Although several media outlets have reported Wednesday’s story – initially asserted by The National Enquirer – the idea that the rumor is true is questionable at best.
Fox, the Huffington Post, and the British tabloid The Daily Mail – along with a number of other media outlets – have all picked up on the story, which states that while behind bars, Casey exchanged letters with a man who has given her $200,000 to help her begin her life outside of jail.
On July 5, a jury found Casey not guilty of killing her toddler daughter, Caylee Anthony, 2. She walked out of jail a free woman on July 17, but is now in Florida serving a term of one-year of probation for a Jan. 2010 check fraud conviction.
The Enquirer claims a source says Casey plans to head to Mexico with her lover, who owns a secluded coastal ranch close to La Paz on the Sea of Cortez – only accessible by plane.
The rumor also indicates Casey plans to seek Mexican citizenship in the future.
“Casey continues to receive death threats, and she’s finally realized there is no place in America where she can lead a safe, quiet life,” the Enquirer says the source divulged.
Casey only began her probation last month, thus, if the story is true, she will not be able to leave the country with her alleged mystery lover for almost a year.
