Fox News predicted violence at Occupy Wall Street movements
Early Sunday morning Occupy Portland Maine protesters were awakened by a bomb that was thrown into their campsite at Lincoln Park, near the Court house in Portland. The chemical bomb landed under a table at the campsites makeshift kitchen, no one was hurt in the explosion.
Most in the camp were sleeping, but some were awake and reported seeing “a car driving by slowed down, and lobbed an IED over the fence. Within a few seconds, it exploded”.
Portland police Sgt. Glen McGary said “the bomb was thrown into the camp’s kitchen, a tarped area where food is cooked and served”. Police are still investigating and no suspects have been arrested at this time.
Fox “News” and other right wing echo chambers have been predicting that violence would breakout since the Occupy Wall Street (OWS) movement began.
Fox “News” on a daily basis, on each of their shows, have featured segments where they bash the OWS movement, calling them a mob, dirty, un-American, violent, Marxists, Leninists, hippies, etc. These are just a small example of the verbiage being used on Fox “News”. If you read postings on their website, or the websites of their echo chambers, it gets much worse. It’s so bad, I cannot repeat the vulgarisms being said by faithful Fox viewers.
But Fox “News” was right, violence has broken out, a Chemical Bomb was hurled into a campsite of peaceful, sleeping protesters.
Occupy protester encampments everywhere, including the one here in Las Vegas, need to be vigilant of their surroundings, especially at night.
Words have consequences.
The vitriol and rhetoric that Fox “News” has spewed over the years have been directly linked to violent acts carried out by their audience as they felt emboldened by the words that they where hearing.
Last year, California Highway Patrol officers arrested Byron Williams after a shootout on a freeway. Williams told the police “that his intention was to start a revolution by traveling to San Francisco and killing people of importance at the Tides Foundation and the ACLU.”
From his jail cell, Williams said he learned of the Tides Foundation by Glenn Beck who had painted the organization as liberal, evil, and dangerous. (video on left)
This is just one of many incidents linked to Fox “News“. Fox denies that they have anything to do with acts of violence carried out by their audience, and simply called them “isolated incidents“.
We have already seen violence against the Occupy protesters carried out by police in several cities across the United States, and now this bombing. I hope that this is one of those “isolated incidents” that Fox “News” calls them, but I fear there may be more violence as long as Fox “News” and their echo chambers keep bashing the movement and causing some in their audience to react to their vitriolic messaging.
