Chris Brown has been showing off his Hip-Hop side a lot since his return. Releasing rap mixtapes, collaborating with major emcees, etc. His latest display being at this year’s BET Hip-Hop Awards, where he gathered up a few of his homies for a somewhat impressive cypher. Currently Brown has been tapped to take his Hip-Hop persona to the big screen. Brown has landed a role in the upcoming dance film Planet B-Boy. The movie is based off of the documentary of the same name and is being directed by Bronson Lee, who produced the documentary. The original project focused on the b-boy cultures in Japan, France, Germany, The United States, and a few other countries. It followed five dancers as they got ready for the ultimate battle in Germany. Readers can learn more about the documentary here.
The film version follows an American dance crew as they train to compete for the b-boy championships in France. Brown’s character and his crew will battle other groups from Korea, Russia, France, and other parts of Europe. The film will also star Josh Holloway and Laz Alonso. The film doesn’t have a set release date yet but sources say production began this week. Word has it that the locations for the movie include Los Angeles, CA and Montpellier, France. Way to keep it global. Should any further details or a trailer drop for the film, an update will be done accordingly. In the mean time, readers can get even more with Planet B-Boy from the movie’s Facebook page.
Chris Brown last visited Milwaukee back in 2007. He and fellow artist Ludacris put on a concert at one of the city’s biggest events, Summerfest. And for more Hip-Hop articles, check out this previous post.
