Christian Dior sent their spring/summer 2012 collection down the Paris Fashion Week runway today and took the fashion world back to a time of 1940’s glamour, feminine details and soft touches. The overall vibe of the show was very French, vintage and it celebrated ladylike fashion. The handbags on Chris Dior’s runway were structured and mixed together stiff silhouettes with soft fabrications such as tweed and brocade fabric.
Christian Dior created a line of classic and ladylike handbags for the spring 2012 season; which was right in line with the look of the entire collection. The classic “Lady Dior” top handle satchel was seen on the runway in traditional leather and exotics as well as the design houses’ seasonal tweed.
Tweed was shown on Christian Dior’s handbags in both solid form as well as patchwork. The edgy use of traditional fabric was fresh and stood out on the runway; making the fabrication a favorite of the show.
In addition to “Lady Dior” bags and satchels, there were daytime clutches, semi-formal clutches and evening bags on the Paris runway. Christian Dior used fabrics such as brocade, traditional satin and leather for the medium sized clutches were roomy enough for a wallet, lipstick and small digital camera without looking too large for formal affairs.
Christian Dior also created a line of casual hobo handbags for the spring 2012 season which included a detachable shoulder strap and color blocking. The hobos were also found in Dior’s fabrication of the season; tweed.
