Climbers of all skill levels and fans of Joshua Tree National Park are invited to “Save the Date” for the 2011 Climb Smart Festival on October 21-23, 2011 in Joshua Tree, California. The non-profit group, Friends of Joshua Tree, and the Joshua Tree National Park thought kicking off the climbing season with the Climb Smart Festival would be a great way to celebrate the park’s 75th anniversary.
The 2011 Climb Start Festival includes climbing clinics, camping, park projects, multimedia and athlete presentations, vendor fair and so much more activity. This is an ideal way to give back to the park and connect with people that have the same zest for the incredible sport of climbing. The clinics are available for all abilities and will be led by American Mountain Guide Association (AMGA) guides from Wilderness Outings, Uprising and Vertical Adventures. And you will get to rub shoulders with some top sponsored and legendary climbers such as Lynn Hill, Brittany Griffith, and Kurt Smith.
With Joshua Tree being one of the world-renowned climbing destinations in the United States, climbers and park supporters will have the opportunity to learn about and shape Park policy as the Park’s long-term General Management Plan will go under review this year. Park policy toward climbing nationwide is heavily influenced by Joshua Tree.
An all-access pass includes camping at Joshua Tree Lake Campground, festival access, Saturday party and dinner, all clinics, entertainment and athlete engagements, raffle ticket, and special Joshua Tree National Park service project in the Park. The full-registration price is $105.00.
Get your climb on and join in all the festivities to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Joshua Tree National Park and taking advantage of all the fantastic opportunities during the 2011 Climb Smart Festival starting on Friday, October 21 to Sunday, October 23rd, 2011. Happy climbing!
