The warm, rain-free days that we all have been enjoying over the past several days is coming to an end. A sharp change to our weather pattern is imminent as we have one more day (today) of rain-free weather. Today will likely be day 11 of no measurable precipitation, the driest open for the month in nearly 4 decades. Clouds and moisture will increase from west to east today. There is a slight chance for showers to affect the far western sections if the Chicago metro area this afternoon. Rain prospects and coverage will increase throughout the day with the best chance for rain falling tonight.
The 80s are over, but southerly winds will still keep things mild across the region. Like yesterday, temperatures this afternoon will range from the mid-70s to around 80 degrees, becoming the 8th consecutive day of having unseasonably warm 70+ degree weather. Wednesday will be cooler, but should make it day 9 of 70+ degree weather before temperatures plunge from near seasonable levels Thursday to unseasonably cool levels Friday. In addition to the cool weather will be windy conditions developing late Thursday and Friday.
Tuesday: 8th day of above normal temperatures. Increasing cloudiness with highs in the mid to upper 70s. A slight chance for showers this afternoon west. Better chance tonight. Southeast winds 10-15 mph. Rain coverage 10-20%.
Wednesday: 9th day of above normal temperatures. Extensive cloudiness. Showers becoming more numerous late. A thunderstorm ot two is possible. High temperatures in the low to mid 70s. Rain coverage increases to 70% of the area Thunderstorm coverage 20-30%.
Thursday: Partly cloudy with clusters of showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Becoming windy with temperatures falling in the second half of the day. Highs in the mid 60s. Rain coverage 70%. Thunderstorm coverage 20-30%.
Friday: Mostly sunny, noticeably cool, and windy. Highs near 60 degrees.
Saturday: Becoming mostly sunny and slightly warmer. Highs in the lower to mid 60s.
Sunday: Partly cloudy and warmer. Highs in the mid 60s to near 70 degrees.
Monday: Partly cloudy with a chance for showers. Highs in the lower to mid 60s.
