Americans love Italian food, Italian clothes, Italian coffee, and Italian wine among other things. But some love Italian cars more than anything, and the 26th annual Concorso Italiano was a celebration of that love and passion for Italian automobiles and motorcycles. The event took place August 19th in Monterey at the Laguna Seca Golf Ranch. Over 800 rolling pieces of Italian automotive art graced the lawn from modern to vintage. This year’s show spotlighted the 40th anniversary of the Maserati Bora, and the 45th anniversary of the Maserati Ghibli. The DeTomaso Pantera was also featured for its 40th anniversary. A collection of unrestored barn find cars, and a section of cars painted black or white were also on display. A fashion show, music, delicious food and wine added to the flavor or the event. This show is always a great chance to see rare and exotic Italian cars up close, and even chat with the owners. Best of show this year went to Pete Vasquez’s exceptional 1953 Fiat Stanguellini Berlinetta. Along with the high performance exotics such as Ferraris and Lamborghinis, small cars like the original Fiat 500 were crowd pleasers as well. It was a great day, and an impressive showing of Italian design. Don’t miss next years Concorso Italiano scheduled for August 17, 2012. Enjoy the slide show!
