Alberto Alvarez, the head of logisitics for Michael Jackson, appeared in court in the Conrad Murray trial, and he discussed the events of June 25, 2009 on the witness stand. He explained what Dr. Murray asked him to do on the day of the superstar’s passing, and he provided a timeline of events that he witnessed at the Jackson home on that day. One thing that was a major highlight of the testimony, is the fact that two of Michael Jackson’s children were watching what took place in the room, and Alvarez escorted them out of the room.
Alvarez stated a lot of things in his testimony. He explained that when he first entered Michael Jackson’s home on June 25, 2009, Conrad Murray was looking down at him from the second floor, and yelled: “Alberto, come, come quick!” Upon going to Michael Jackson’s room, he testified that he saw Murray giving Michael Jackson chest compressions with his left hand on his bed. Alvarez then said some important things, the highlights include the following in regard to what took place, leading up to what Michael Jackson’s children saw:
- Murray stated to Alvarez that an ambulance was needed, and that Michael Jackson needed to get to a hospital, but he did not say to call 911
- Prince and Paris Jackson were heard by Alvarez and they watched a moment of what was going on in Jackson’s room
- Alvarez, hearing Paris Jackson yell, “Daddy!” and seeing her and Prince crying, Murray said: “Don’t let them see their dad like this,” even though Murray had called for Prince to go upstairs
- Alvarez then walked the children out of the room, but did not escort them downstairs
There is no doubt that it was heartbreaking to hear the testimony of Alvarez. When the prosecutor, David Walgren asked Alvarez is Paris Jackson had been crying when she yelled out, “daddy!”, he answered “yes,” and he was noticeably becoming emotional, as he relived the events of that day.
What do you think of what Alvarez said about escorting the children out of Michael Jackson’s room, so that they would not be subjected to seeing something that was obviously very traumatic? Have you been following the trial thus far?
