The offended always get their way! Well in many cases that is. It seems that in Middletown, Connecticut the offended can even be Cops! Yes, that’s correct, Cops! This is definately a case of “Dumb and Dumber”!
The report, that seems to be incomplete as far as details go, comes out of Middletown, Connecticut where a man found a road killed deer and wanted to show his sons how field dressing a deer was done. So, he picked up the deer, moved it to a “back lot” behind some apartments near what was described as an “Art Center”, but none the less, a “back lot”. It was NOT described as a “parking lot”, but a “back lot”, or what most would consider a vacant piece of land.
The report says that there were some Mothers walking around with their kids. Were they just being nosy, did they lose something, and, did they even belong there? As it turns out, the guy, Lawrence Massey, 37 was arrested by a Cop who told a reporter that he was “overcome by a very strong smell emanating from the carcass”.
Ummm…..really? A fresh deer might have some odor involved with field dressing, but it is hard to fathom that a guy would teach his sons the art of field dressing a deer if it were covered with maggots and had been lying at the side of the road for several days. Just doesn’t make sense. So, we can believe that the animal was a recent victim of a semi, or something like that.
The Cop, who was not named in the article, said that “he found Massey holding a folding knife in his right hand with both arms covered in blood beyond his elbows”. Wow! Blood! From a deer!!! A road killed deer no less!!! Wonder why there was so much blood (I’m laughing here).
Massey had the common sense to put a tarp on the ground. When he was confronted by the cops, he voluntarily picked up the carcass and the guts to clean the place up.
But that didn’t matter to the Cop! He gave the guy a ticket for Disorderly Conduct? You gotta be kidding, right? Disorderly conduct??? Oh well, a Cop’s gotta’ do what a Cop’s gotta’ do! Right??
Well, Massey probably didn’t use good judgment in this case, but neither did the Cop, and the Mothers who were walking with their kids acted in an unrealistic way. But, as we all know, the squeaky wheel gets the oil these day! Correctness of any kind rules when a Cop can make a bust for gutting a deer! Glad I’m not in that Cop’s shoes! I wouldn’t want to listen to the constant laughter!
NOTICE TO ALL HUNTERS: Don’t let anyone see you gutting your deer! You may offend some Mothers who just may be walking with their kids in the woods! (Laughing again)
