Elegant Cafe Del Rey overlooks the harbor and sits right on the docks; this is one place that really rocks! At Happy Hour Cafe Del Rey features value-driven Mediterranean bites, grab a seat and enjoy the nautical sights! A cozy fireplace provides romantic light which pairs perfectly with a delicious wine flight. We immediately rejoice and are in a great mood when we go to a five-star Happy Hour with such superior food.
Bartender Nathan Koval and General Manager Shaun Freeman debuted their new fall cocktail menu for us including their Seasonal Sangria (red and white); the Autumn Apple with Woodford Reserve Bourbon, Apple, and Caramel; the Rosemary Cooler with El Jimador Tequila, Rosemary, Agave and Soda Water; the Sage Jealousy with Hendrick’s Gin, Chartreuse, Grapefruit Juice, Sage, and Cucumber; and the Pumpkin with Pear-Infused Svedka, Cointreau, Pumpkin Puree, and Spices. Each drink was perfection in a glass, presented with such taste and class.
Shaun next served us their signature Happy Hour small plates that included the Kalamata Olives, grilled artichokes and roasted tomatoes; the Steamed Black Mussels with prosciutto, basil, shallot, garlic, tomato, and white wine; the Lamb Kafta Cigars with tzatziki, smoked paprika oil, and three olive tapenade; the Mediterranean Pizza with eggplant sofrito, house made sausage, and arugula pesto, and lastly the Housemade Focaccia Bread with Three Olive Tapenade.
We paired these with Niner 2007 Sangiovese, Boot Jack Ranch Vineyard, Paso Robles; the Frank Family Vineyard 2008 Zinfandel, Napa Valley; and the Felino 2008 by Paul Hobbs, Cabernet Sauvignon, Mendoza, Argentina. The food and wine pairings are not to be missed; they assuredly will leave you in a state of bliss.
Cafe Del Rey is sexy with a vibe that is great, such a perfect venue to impress your next date! Professionals, locals, and foodies know Cafe Del Rey is unique, especially if panache and style is what you seek. Our time here was short and sweet; Cafe Del Rey cannot be beat! We left with a box of chocolates from the valet, we can’t think of a better way to end our day!
