The new drama ‘Ringer’ which will premiere Tuesday September 13th on The CW (channel 6 in Phoenix) promises to be an amazing new hit. The show has cast all the right players. Sarah Michelle Gellar is the lead female who makes her return to television (full time) since the pop culture classic ‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer’. Her supporting cast members are Nestor Carbonell, Loan Gruffudd, Christopher Polaha, Mike Colter (with so many handsome men around what is a girl to do…) Tara Summers and Zoey Deutch. And the timing couldn’t have been more perfect with so many new shows this falls season.
Gellar plays two roles: Bridget (a recovering alcholic who has gone on the run after witnessing a murder by the mob) and Siobhan (who seems to be living a fairy tale life). At least that is what bridget believes until Siobhan goes missing on a boat outing the two are on and Bridget slides into her ‘not so perfect afterall life’.
In the pilot Bridget witnesses the mob hit and runs away to New York to meet her estranged twin sister Siobhan, despite FBI agent Machado’s (played by Carbonell) reassurances that she will be safe there. Episode two: Machado stays in New York to investigate Siobhan. Meanwhile Bridget reveals her secrets to Malcolm (played by Mike Colter). Andrew (Siobhan’s husband played by Loan Gruffudd) and his business partner Olivia (Jamie Murray’s guest role) throw a party. Gemma (played by Tara Summers – who is Siobhan’s best friend) and Henry (played by Christopher Polaha) continue to fight. Episode three: Bridget continues to investigate Siobahn’s murder and gets closer to the killer. Machado is still looking for Bridget. Bridget discovers some ugly secret about Andrew. Henry and Gemma are still having issues, this week it is about their investment in Andrew’s Hedgefund (wikipedia). with all this drama, mystery and intrigue it is easy to see how this can become a fan favorite in very little time. The CW only ordered 13 episodes so the drama should catch your attention in the very first episode. With the Critic’s Choice Television Award for ‘Most Exciting New series’ the bar is already set high for the series. (Check out the slide show of photos from the series… then visit CW to see more).
