“Daddy issues” are usually associated with women who have poor or non-existent relationships with their fathers. Some fathers and daughters have amazing relationships, which benefit them both in their own relationships.
Radio personality Larry M. of the No Limit Larry and the Morning Maddhouse, along with this daughter, will host Guys & Dolls on November 11, 2011 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Kalu, 505 East 6th Street.
When speaking about his daughter to the blog YBBG, Larry expressed how different raising a daughter is compared to raising sons. He also emphasized the importance of fathers being in all of their children’s lives, especially their daughters. Larry explained why he decided to host the Guys and Dolls event with his daughter:
I’ve got to be her first boyfriend. I’ve got to set the standard high.
It is extremely important for children to have great relationships with their parents. A daughter with a great relationship with her father tends to have a certain edge when it comes to her expectations. This is what one self-professed daddy’s girl has to say:
My dad told me how a man should treat me. He raised me to be independent, so I wouldn’t need a “knucklehead”. He showed me how a husband should treat his wife by being a good husband to my mother. It was my MOTHER who taught me how to be a good woman for a man. Daddy Spoiled me. Mommy brought me back down. lol. Daddy taught me how not to be “needy and dependent on a man”. Mommy taught me how to be there for, respect, NEED and love a man. funny how it works. You can be independent and still need your man.–M.E.
A gentleman had this to say about relationships with daddy’s girls:
It can be good and bad. When a man raises a women and sets the bar for his daughter, it prepares her not to accept anything less…flip side is (ex wife) ..her dad did so much for her she never learned independence or responsibility since he always bailed her out. She could never have a successful relationship. Daddy’s girl syndrome can be a detriment if done incorrectly, but a great standard and preparation tool if done correctly. My nieces are UNCLEs girls. I take them on dates so they know how a man should treat them.–G.M.
How do you feel about “daddy’s girls”? Are you planning to attend the event?
