On Sunday, October 30, 2011 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM there will be a Day of the Dead Festival at the Atlanta History Center. And, get this…………..it is free of charge and open to the public.
Those attending the festival will learn what Day of the Dead or El Dia de Muertos is all about. Guests have the opportunity to enjoy storytelling, crafts, authentic Mexican food and entertainment.
Day of the Dead is a Mexican holiday focusing on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died. Families build alters to honor lost family and friends that are decorated with flowers, favorite foods and beverages, as well as memorabilia of the departed.
This program is presented in collaboration with the Instituto de Mexico and the Mexican Consulate General.
