De Pere will host their annual Fall Fest along with St. Norbert College’s SNC Day this Saturday to create a day full of music and activities.
The music starts at St. Norbert College at 10am. SNC Day has two stages of entertainment that will please every palette of musical preference. Each stage has performances simultaneously which can give a group of people some choice in what they listen to. At 10am on the Gazebo Stage you will find the SNC Jazz Ensemble and on the International Stage will be the Nia African and Affrican-American Drummers and Dancers.
Other musical talent on the St. Norbert Campus includes Big Mouth (blues, jazz, originals, and funk), Star 98 (pop, rock and fun), Conga Se Menne (Finnish Reggae from the UP), Frogwater (Irish/Celtic acoustic music), The Newtonburg Brass Band (recreation of 1900’s small-town brass band, Czech polka an waltz), Geetha Bat (Classic Indian Singer), and the Duck Creek Crossing Singers and Dancers.
Across the bridge at De Pere Fall Fest you will find Unity and Men in Suits for your listening pleasure.
De Pere Fall Fest is bringing back it’s Best of the Midwest Rib Cook-off. This contest, in its second year, will have Chicago BBQ Company pitted against Texas Roadhouse. There will be ribs and side dishes available for purchase as well as food and drink. Tokens can be purchased for use at all the vendors.
Other vendors available downtown are The Vault, The Abbey, The Bistro on Broadway, Eberts & Gerberts Sandwich Shop, George St. Café, Zestys and Gyro Kabobs. The fest will definitely give event goers enough variety in food and drink that they should come away satisfied.
SNC Day on the college campus will have vending provided, too. On the Main Hall Lawn food enthusiasts can find Chef Dan’s famous chili, grilled hamburgers and brats, beer from Titletown Brewery and Coldstone Creamery.
Free popcorn will be available at the gazebo while you wait for your boat ride on the Fox River and for those with a sweet tooth, Baklava and refreshments will be found in the tent hosted by the F.K. Bemis International Center. Finally at Daniel J. Schneider Stadium, sandwiches and Zesty’s custard and other treats will be provided.
Other exciting activities
Not sure you want to listen to music all day? SNC Day gives you some other options. Children’s activities include face painting, magic, balloon art, inflatables to jump around in, a scavenger hunt, geocaching, hula hooping and at dusk the movie Hop on the Main Hall Lawn.
There will be an arts and craft show with local vendors, a photography exhibit to showcase some talent, educational activities which include a discussion on social inequality, children’s literature, and much more. For those who enjoy water, boat rides on the Fox River will happen throughout the day.
And what would the day be without some boys of fall bringing us some gridiron action? At 1pm the St. Norbert College football team will play Knox College at Schneider Stadium and admission to the game is free to all. A Lamer’s trolley will provide shuttle to the stadium from the main campus.
De Pere Fall Fest combined with SNC Day has the perfect opportunity for locals and visitors to explore the sights and sounds of music, food, competition and everything the local De Pere area has to offer.
