Every day you are bound to hear yourself or someone else spewing excuses why they just cannot find the time to work out. We all know how important it is for the mind and body to stay in shape. With the news, friends, and the runners we pass on the streets we are constantly reminded.
It is not always easy to get to a gym; it can be expensive, time consuming. By the work days end we are often too busy with the home life to get out.
It is important to set aside a specific time to get started with a workout routine that you will be able to continue comfortably with.
Working out at home in the morning can be the perfect place and time. Roll out of bed just one hour earlier and begin your at-home workout. No need for fancy workout outfits. Throw on the old sweats. By the time you are completely awake your workout will almost be over. Take a shower and head out for your day. This is a great way to start a day knowing you already accomplished an important task.
Not every abode has the space to allocate for a separate room dedicated as a gym. Exercising at home does not mean having to fill up the space with a lot of large equipment. For less than a year or two of a gym membership you can have a home workout center to use whenever you like.
To get started decide on investing in just one cardio machine. Most people gravitate and to and use their one favorite machine at the gym while virtually ignoring the rest. Measure your space to determine the size of the machine you will be able to accommodate. Then start your research. Check out reviews. There are treadmills that fold up. Other machines are portable and can be slid under a bed or hidden behind an attractive folding screen or in cabinetry. Make sure that your machine will be easily accessible every day in order to be used. Have it set up so you can enjoy the morning news on TV or look out a window.
If you like classes buy a DVD or Blue Ray. These are great opportunities to try different workouts; dance, palates, aerobics, boxing, etc. Have fun and let loose without embarrassment.
Purchase Fitness items that are small but will give you a huge payback.
A Stability exercise ball is not only great for an ab workout, but you can use it for your entire body. If you are between 5’3″and 6’0″use a 65cm ball. If you are under 5’3″use a 55cm ball. And if you are over 6’0″go with a 75cm ball. Make sure to purchase a high quality burst resistant ball that will support your body weight.
The Adjustable Bench and Free Weights will never go out ofstyle. Even before our modern gyms with fancy equipment and classes became popular these items where must haves for working out. The weight bench must be able to go into a decline, incline and flat position. Free weights are small and take up little space. If you purchase single free weights, you will have to keep buying heavier weights as you increase in strength. You can save money by using an adjustable set of free weights.
If you are lucky enough to have a dedicated room just for your gym, consider buying an all-in-one Home Gym. These can take up a lot of space but is very versatile and useful. Interlocking rubber tiles make for great gym flooring. Mirror a wall so you can watch your form as you work out. Make sure you have great music and a TV to watch as you are on your machine.
To get started you might want to consider a consultation with a trainer to help you purchase the proper equipment. An Interior Designer (such as weberlifedesign) can assist you in planning out the space to accommodate your workout needs.
Enjoy a long life. It is never too late to get started by staying healthy and in shape. Pop in the DVD, turn up the music and let’s get dancing! Never be afraid to dance!
