…Carpet that is. In a little less than a week from now, the most exciting cultural event of the year will commence. The theme for the 34th annual Starz Denver Film Festival is “Roll out the Red” and indeed the Denver Film Society is doing just that. With 5 red carpet screenings, celebrity appearances from the likes of Judy Greer, Chely Wright, and the legendary James Cromwell, the Starz Denver Film Festival is sure to be a cinematic spectacular like none other.
From opening feature film Like Crazy to closing night film The Artist, the fest includes a unique and varied array of short, feature length, and documentary films, filmmaker panel discussions, and award presentations. With over 274 films being screened from a whopping 43 countries, including 7 from Colorado, SDFF will be host to a number of fantastic independent films and filmmakers.
This is a great opportunity for Coloradoans to celebrate the art of film and share their love for it with like-minded cinephiles. Due to the timing of our festival, we are always very fortunate to offer a number of films that are Oscar buzzworthy, including last year’s Black Swan and 127 Hours. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to see some films that are sure to be Oscar contenders, early.
Congratulations are in order to all the films chosen to be featured at this year’s fest, and to the hardworking staff and volunteers who put this festival—one of Denver’s biggest cultural events of the year—together. This cinephile wishes them the best of luck!

About the Denver Film Society:
Since 1978, the DFS has worked to promote the medium as both an art form and a civic forum, developing a program that includes year-round screenings, community outreach projects and renowned special events. It is in fact the only nonprofit organization in Colorado dedicated to engaging both its members and the general public in a lifelong, life-altering relationship with and understanding of film and film culture.
The Denver Film Society’s mission is to develop opportunities for diverse audiences to discover film through creative thought-provoking experiences.
