Feast your eyes on this…..
The crowd at Pinto Bistro in Studio City last night was a mixed bag of couples, groups and people celebrating special occasions. Every table was taken and waiters scurried around the room pouring wine, bringing drinks, taking food orders. You’d never guess we’re having a recession.
Restaurants in Los Angeles are going gangbusters. Partly thanks to the bi-annual Dine LA Restaurant Week, dineLA Fall 2011 Restaurant Week, which is underway now through October 14.
Sponsored by LA INC. The Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau (http://discoverlosangeles.com/) and American Express,® (http://www.americanexpress.com), the foodie fest takes place at more than 300 local eateries which offer three-course priced fixed meals for $16 to #28 for lunch and $26 to $44 for dinner. We’re talking a trio of gourmet-licious plates prepared by the city’s most talented culinary wizards–such as Richard and I sampled last night at Pinot Bistro, one of the Patina Group’s shining stars and the brainchild of LA super chef, Joachim Splichal. As always the meal was delicious and because of the DineLa, less expensive at $34 for appetizer, entree and dessert.
And, get this, we brought our own bottle of Lewis Chardonnay. A pleasant, budget saving perk of Pinot Bistro is that they don’t impose a corkage charge if you byo wine, and many regulars, such as we, take advantage of the offer, saving even more dining out dollars.
We began the meal sipping our wine and mulling the interesting menu. Richard opted for the argula salad, pan-roasted cod and apple tarte tatin with vanilla ice cream–all good. Your Diva did Pinot’s “local” menu which is offered on Sundays and costs $1 more than the dinelarestaurantweek men, but it will continue long over dinelaweek is over.
I started with the most delicious endive salad mixed with candied walnuts and blue cheese and moved onto an amazing white fish fixed with fresh vegetables that were perfectly prepared as was the fish. My dessert was a palate cleansing trio of sorbets.
We are heading to Spago in Beverly Hills, Nobu in WeHo and Fig&Olive next for more dinelarestaurant week specials-we have to hurry, “offer ends October 14 and yies that’s Friday.”
Readers, you really should jump on this gastronomic bandwagon and savor star quality, red carpet dining experiences at practically peon prices.
