I received an interesting question from a reader today regarding the shapes of butter knives, fish knives and fish servers. One question he asked was something like this, “Are fish servers intentionally designed to be in the shape of a fish?”
I’ve not given this much thought but after receiving the question, I think the reader might be on to something here. Click on the picture to see a larger version. This was found in a reproduction of the Gorham Chantilly catalog dated 1915. Now that I look at them, the two fish servers pictured do look somewhat like fish!
