The budge crisis which came and passed may have exposed the Tea Party. The Tea Party which has held President Obama hostage over the budge. The Tea Party which currently controls the House. Their representitives have been said to have sworn an oath not to raise taxes.
This oath is destructive to politics because it promotes loyalty to the Tea Party and apparently it is more important than the oath of office which says:”I, (name of Member), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.” according to the house.gov website.
So if the enemy is foreign, and the federal government requires money to fight that enemy, spending must be increased. This was the case with the Iraq war and the current wars around the world. And if the enemy is domestic, such as the case of domestic terrorism then domestic spending must be increased and not just on the law enforcement and defense end but on education and other programs that provide incentives for citizens to be patriotic and loyal to the United States.
The Tea Party has to spend the money because it’s constitutionally written that they have a duty to defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic and this mission costs money. But they don’t want to pay the bills through revenue increases even if it puts the American way of life at risk.
In more recent news Barack Obama gave an interesting town hall at LinkedIn. Obama is on the perfect attack line against the Tea Party. And I explicitly and specifically say the Tea Party. The revenue question was asked by someone in his audience, in specific this person and Obama both recognized that America didn’t make itself, that every citizen doesn’t make themselves, but that success is redistributed as investments and passed from person to person, this creates the shared success or greatness in America.
If the Obama jobs bill proposal is passed this increase in tax revenue affect Massachusetts citizens through tax cuts proposed in the bill. It can also affect business owners because if more money is in peoples hands they have more money to spend on products and services provided by small businesses. The Tea Party is on the defensive and has to explain why raising tax revenue on individuals such as millionaires would be bad for the economy.
