From Boo-Palooza to Bark-O-Ween to Nightmare on Fulton Market – there are plenty of dog-friendly (and pet-friendly) activities on tap Halloween weekend in Chicago. Take your pick from parties for your pooch to block parties for the entire family. Some are just for fun and others will help support some of Chicago’s animal rescues. We’ll include a rundown tomorrow of Halloween Adoption Events and Wednesday we’ll hit the Northern Suburbs.
Boo-Palooza and the Haunted Hounds Halloween Ho-Down! – Wicker Park – 1425 North Damen – Doggy Style Pet Shope 2023 Division
Saturday, October 29 – 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. (continuing at the pet store afterwards)
Wicker Park is the place to be to start your Halloween Weekend on Saturday. Boo-Palooza runs from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the park at 1425 North Division. This family- and dog-friendly event will have activities for everyone and vendors that will be handing out treats for dogs and people alike. For dogs there will be a play area that includes – Bobbing for Tennis Balls and Eat the Tail Off the Donkey. There will also be a Doggy Costume Contest judged by Alderman Joe Moreno and Paige Ormond of the Doggy Style Pet Shop. After the event, dogs are encouraged to “parade” back to Doggy Style for a Halloween Party with food, drink, sales and deals for people and pets.
Bark-O-Ween Party – Parker’s Naturals – 1342 East 55t Street
Saturday, October 29 – Noon – 4 p.m.
It’s not officially Halloween in Chicago without an appearance by Svengoolie! He’ll be stopping by to add some ghoul to Parker’s Naturals Bark-O-Ween Party. The event includes a pet costume contest with great prizes and trick-or-treat goodie bags for people and pets alike. A $5 donation is requested with proceeds benefiting Trio Animal Foundation.
Barker & Meowski Halloween Party – Armitage and Halsted
Sunday, October 30 – 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Here’s a great block party to wrap up the season! Stop by the parking lot at Broadview Bank Next to Barker and Meowski for a dog- and kid-friendly Halloween Bash presented by local merchants. There will be kid’s games along with food and treats for all. Costume contests for both dogs and kids and a photo booth so you and your pet may get a snapshot of the day. Proceeds ($5) from the photo booth benefit Trio Animal Foundation.
Nightmare on Fulton Market – Chicago Party Animals – 1133 West Fulton Market
Sunday, October 30 – 2 p.m.-5 p.m.
Who needs Freddy Krueger when you can party with Mr. Big and Diva at the Nightmare on Fulton Market! Dress up your dog (or not) for loads of fun at Chicago Party Animals – an off-leash doggy party space. There will be drinks and treats for people and Gourmutt doggy treats from their friends at Fido to Go. Just $15 per person (dogs are free) – RSVP because space is limited.
