Famous snack creator of the Doritos corn chip Arch West has passed away at the age of 97 of natural causes. The man responsible for helping cater millions of party’s Arch West was reported by Yahoo to have died on September 20th 2011 at the age of 97 and the family has a rather unusual final request as they lay their loved one to rest. West’s family will bury dozens of Doritos along side of Arch West’s ashes at his funeral.
Saying their final goodbye to Arch, surviving family and friends stated that they plan to scatter his world famous Doritos’ inside the open grave before placing West’s Urn containing his ashes inside the grave site and burying him.
It is not know as to whether or not if the final grave site ritual are the wishes of the late Arch West,or if the family just decided on the tribute themselves.
In 1961, Arch West was a young man on a family vacation in San Diego,California when he came across a fried tortilla chip he sampled at a food truck, falling in “food love” with the tasty treat, West came up with a brainstorm of an idea for a new snack food. Naming his new snack “Doritos”which sounded like ‘doridito’ meaning “little golden” in Spainish.West began marketing his dream invention at the Frito- Lay food factory where he was employed, which skyrocketed to an immediate success in 1964.
West’s family member Jana Hacker stated “We are tossing Doritos chips in before they put the dirt over the urn, he’ll love it.”
Arch West was born in Indianapolis Indiana,he was placed in a Masonic home, which is described as an assisted living shelter for wives and widows as well as at-risk children in need, after his father died and his mother was unable to cope.
Arch’ first job was that of a cheese salesman,but quickly gave up the job in order to join the Navy in 1943.After returning from World War II, Arch sough employment at the Frito-Lay corporation,where he developed his idea for his famous chips and skyrocketed to fame as the inventor of the first national chip brand in the United States,which is now amongst the most well -known snack brands in the world.
Doritos’ brand chips was sued in 2003 by a man named Charles Grady, who claimed that the triangle shape of the chip was responsible for cutting his throat. Grady lost the suit.
The Doritos chip is made from ground corn,vegetable oil and salt. Seasoning vary among flavors and contain cheese powder,buttermilk powder, wheat flour, whey protein concentrate tomato powder, flavor enhancers,onion powder,whey powder,garlic powder,dextrose,sugar,and mineral salt.

Arch West’s funeral will take place on October 1st in Dallas,Texas.West is preceded in death by his wife,who passed away in 2010,and survived by three sons, 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Alex B a Cincinnati Kroger’s employee stated “I ring up more Doritos’ (all flavors) chips than anything else, especially on the weekends during football season.”
