The Downtown Cedartown Association Presents the “Down Home” Fall Festival and Block Party On Saturday, October 01, 2011. The festival begins at 9:00 a.m., in Historic Downtown Cedartown. There will be food vendors, including a breakfast vendor offering sausage gravy biscuits. Vendors will be set up all day and into the evening hours with home made arts and crafts, food, face painting and children’s inflatables.
The parade will kick off the festival at 10:00 am, followed by live entertainment throughout the day and into the evening
when “Scratch Off John” headlines the evening block party entertainment. There will be two stages set up, a stage near Pink Sugar, on the corner of Main Street and West Avenue, and a City Stage, which will be located near Ideal Bakery.
The Young’s Grove Drama Team will perform at 11:00 am, on the stage at Pink Sugar, followed by the chorus groups from Northside Elementary. Young’s Grove Elementary will be on the same stage at 11:30 a.m.
Cedartown residents McCall Pirkle and the Lundy Boys band will perform on the city stage at 12:30.
A fashion show sponsored by local boutiques will take the stage from 1:30 – 2:30 pm. Hair and makeup for the fashion show provided by FHF Hair Design.
The Cedartown Police Department Trio (John Pilgrim, Jamie Newsome and Jeremy Wilkes) will perform from 2:30 – 3:00 pm.,
From 4:30 – 5:00 pm, the children’s gospel will perform followed by well known gospel performer Cindy Smith.
This years crafts must be handmade and include jewelry, mesh and grapevine wreaths, birdhouses, crochet items, pillow case dresses and much more.
The event will be capped off by the last block party of the year with live entertainment from “Scratch Off John.”
Food vendors will include sausage and gravy biscuits, funnel cakes, famous peanut brittle, pulled pork BBQ, hamburgers,
philly steak and cheese subs, brunswick stew, cotton candy, popcorn, cakes, shaved ice, pizza, nachos, corn roasting and much more. There will be something to satisfy every palette.
In addition to the food and crafts, the popular fall mums will be available and a car show will be set up behind the court house. Children will enjoy inflatables and face painting.
The annual festival is a yearly fundraiser for the Downtown Cedartown Association. The DCA member will be selling
Christmas ornaments, shirts and drinks to raise funds. This year, the Down Home Festival is sponsored by Charter Communications.
All citizens are reminded that there will be no thru traffic from Ware St. to Sterling Holloway Place on the day of the event.
Main Street will be closed to car traffic from 9 a.m. until midnight
