At the end of this week on Saturday the 17th Dumb Friends League will be hosting their 7th Annual Wag ‘n Trail event. They are doing something special to help out the homeless pets in need of a new fur-ever home. Proceeds benefit the Leagues Buddy Center. This event is sponsored by Hill’s Science Diet ®. The 2011 Wag ‘n Trail event is a 1.6 mile hike with your family including your dog or dogs. The more the merrier. The trail is at the Glendale Farm Open Space (North of Castle Rock) which is at I-25 and Surrey Ridge, Exit 188 or 192. The event will start at 8am and go until noon. This event is not only the hike but many other fun activities for the family and dogs to enjoy. There will be food, refreshments, and vendors with many pet-related items to purchase as well as fly-ball demonstrations. There is also a five-acre dog park that is located near the start of the trail that is an off-leash park.
There is no registration fee for the participation in the hike but it is encouraged to help raise pledges for donations to help towards the homeless animals. The donations will be going to the Dumb Friends League Buddy Center in Castle Rock. If a person raises at least $75 in pledges they will receive a long-sleeve Wag ‘n Trails t-shirt with logo, ice cream for them and their dog, a bag of dog biscuits and a photo of them from along the trail done by a professional photographer. The more pledges you get the more prizes you can win. This will be a great way to get out with your furry companion, have a nice walk, help with donations for a great cause and have some fun along the way.

Dumb Friends League has so many ways they help the community with pet adoptions. The Buddy Center has helped to care for over 5,000 homeless pets each year. They also offer lost and found for people in need to find their lost pet, they have behavior training for those hard to train pets, humane education and even animal cruelty investigations to help provide a voice to the ones that do not have one for themselves.
Go to the Animal Rescue Site and click the purple paw print to help feed shelter animals for FREE. In 2010 they helped to provide shelters with over 72 million bowls of food, from just a click a day from people like you.
