Sacred Waters Spiritual Center has some great events this week!
On Tuesday, September 27th at 7pm, Jenny Mish will host Tara Dancing. The Tara Dance is a non-sexual tantric Buddhist practice in honor of the feminine. Tara was an ordinary woman who attained enlightenment and chose to remain in the feminine for all time. The Tara Dance has been endorsed by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. There are 21 Praises of Tara and the movements are simple and easy to learn. In performing the movements, you will manifest her divine qualities in your life, such as Ferocious Compassion, Irresistible Truth, and Worthy of Honor. Jenny Mish is a new faculty member at Notre Dame in the Department of Marketing.
On Wednesday, September 28th at 7pm, the Venerable Wuling will begin teaching on the Infinite Life Sutra, which is one of the three primary sutras of the Pure Land school of Mahayana Buddhism. In this teaching, the meanings of specific words and phrases are explored and studied. This is a 90 minute class that includes the teaching on the sutra, discussion, and walking meditation. Venerable Wuling is an American nun who lectures in North America and Asia. She is based at the Buddhist Society of Elkhart and the Pure Land College in Australia. She has written a few books, “Awaken to the Buddha Within”, “Everything We Do Matters”, and “Path to Peace”. Check out her blog at www.abuddhistperspective.org.
On Thursday, September 29th at 7pm, the monthly Sacred drumming and didgeridoo session will take place. Come and enjoy the vibrations of the didgeridoo, drums, and rattles in a meditative setting. The drum circle is very improvisational and offers a space for true creativity. After drumming, Brett Simpson and Allan VanLeeuwen will offer dideridoo lessons. The cost of the lesson is $5.
On Friday, September 30th at 10am, the regular Qigong practice will take place. The practice is done with a DVD and involves very basic movements. The Spring Forest Qigong method is used and it truly helps to enhance your energy.
