As the running/walking (or any other outdoor activity) weather is slipping away from us, it is time to prepare for more indoor workouts. Consider adding yoga to your routine to switch things up! Here are some DVDs I recommend for some at home yoga:
For beginners – Rodney Yee’s Yoga for Beginners is a great DVD to introduce you to a yoga practice. Basic poses are introduced at a gentle pace. Clear your mind and stretch tight muscles with this DVD.
For intermediates – Yoga Shakti (with Shiva Rea) is a nice mix of yoga and meditation. You can choose the length of your practice while learning new poses to add to your practice.
For advanced – Rodney Yee – Advanced Yoga is a DVD for those who would like to deepen their practice to include arm balances and more challenging sequences. Push your boundaries (carefully!) with this DVD.
Adding even one or two days per week of yoga will loosen tight muscles and help to clear the mind. Notice any physical changes you feel in your body! If you are not comfortable practicing yoga at home consider finding a local studio to attend to learn proper form and breathing, such as Vareika Yoga in Plainville.
